Installation Methods(Mac)
New Map Installation, to update an SD card please see bottom of page.
Download the Panama Street Map for Mac from our Downloads page.
After the download completes, click on the panama.gmapi.zip file and it will automatically uncompress.

This will install Garmin MapManager and Garmin MapInstall.

Start Garmin MapManager from your Applications folder and a Finder window will open. Navigate to and select the panama.gmapi file you downloaded and uncompressed in Step 2. Do not try to open

The installation windows should ask to install the Panama map. Click install and when completed click Quit.

Download and install Basecamp. Run the Basecamp application and select the Panama Street Map from the dropdown map list visible in the top right corner. You should be able to view the Panama map. Zoom into Panama City to make sure you can see the full details of the map.

Select the Unlock menu and select Edit Unlock Codes. Click the Add button and enter the unlock code we sent you. In the Comment field enter Panama. If you don't have the unlock code, please email your Garmin Unit ID to us.

Connect the GPS unit to the Mac USB port. Start the Garmin MapInstall application and follow the prompts. After it completes sending the map wait for about 30 seconds and eject the Garmin GPS.

Disconnect the GPS from the Mac and turn on. To test that the map installed correctly, use the Tools/Settings/Map then Map Info button. If the Panama Street Map is listed, the unit is now ready for navigation. it may take up to 20 minutes to obtain the initial GPS fix. Make sure you are in open area with a good clear view of the sky.
MAC INSTALLATION: Alternate Option

- After the download completes, click on the panama.gmapi.zip file and it will automatically uncompress. The uncompressed file will be panama.gmapi. You cannot open this file on the Mac. Trying to do so will produce an error.
- Download and install Garmin MapInstall. This will install Garmin MapManager and Garmin MapInstall.
- Start Garmin MapManager from your Applications folder and a Finder window will open. Navigate to and select the panama.gmapi file you downloaded and uncompressed in Step 2.

Update SD Map
Download the SD version from our Downloads page.
Connect your GPS to your Mac.
In Finder drag the downloaded file to the Garmin folder of the GPS SD card (not the internal memory).
If you run into problems, please contact us and we will assist. We are aware that this seems to be a complicated process however, we have no control over Garmin's install procedures.
